Up - Up is from the director of Monsters Inc., a fact which may “lift” this movie., What turned us off about the trailer was Pixar deciding to append a sequence of stock footage just to show how great they are. This makes us question the quality of this film - because of the fact that Pixar had to remind you of better movies that they’ve done.
9 - This extra-epic animated film is shot like a video game in that the camera’s position is often realistic. This may be a step away from the typical Tim Burton feel in this take on a dystopian future. You need to see the trailer to get excited for this one.
Push - This was advertised as an action movie when it is, in fact, more interesting due to its supernatural elements. In the end, Push does have elements in common with the TV show, Heroes. The shots are colorful, and due to being shot in china, always interesting. Dakota Fanning has broken away from playing child roles but she still appears very young, making some more mature scenes awkward.
Coraline - Dakota Fanning also stars in this stop-motion film. With an excellent story as well as superb visuals, Coraline is an early favorite in the 2009 children’s film category. Coraline is great in 3D but that doesn’t mean it won’t also be amazing in 2D.
Hosts: Austin Brown, Ryan Asava, Ryan Stibich, Dan Wallace
