Benjamin Button – Despite this movie being very long, the special effects are well done and won’t distract you. Cate Blanchett’s character is a bit annoying as her old character tries to speak on her death bed. The movie’s plot doesn’t logically follow its own brand of science fiction.
Milk – This film starts out slow but crescendos to an excellent ending. As it turns out, the movie is very historically accurate. However, Sean Penn only seems be getting a lot of credit because of the controversial character he plays and possibly not because of his own skill. Josh Brolin’s role in W seems independent of his role in this movie, which is very aptly performed.
Slumdog Millionaire – Is this movie a viral marketing campaign or story of life lessons learned? This movie is a shining example of a romantic sub-plot. Overall, this movie has a solid, original story with debatably the best cinematography of 2008.
